I am Timo Kaikkonen, a wilderness and nature guide.
First I graduated as a carpenter. Later the Defense Forces served
as my employer for 32 years. I often go into the wilds to spot wildlife in nature. I do skiing, orienteering, biathlon as well as wild berry and mushroom picking.
Hunting and fishing are also a most natural part of life in Hossa. Manual skills I have inherited from the family, and if necessary, I have made the buildings and a number of utensils myself.
At the time of the establishment of Hossa National Park
I got an idea of how to lend a hand in developing the area
by renovating and expanding the log houses, which I had inherited. At the same time I studied to become a qualified wilderness and nature guide. Besides, I have developed my skills by studying to be a kayak instructor and charter boat driver.
